Practical English Phonetics and Pronunciation Class - Online Course

Description

This course aims at improving one's spoken English and listening skills/ability through the understanding of the important theories and applications concerning the pronunciation and speech of English. The course is typically for those who have no idea of English alphabetic structure but do want to learn fast and manage how to pronounce good English.

This course aims at helping students pronounce good English without the need to know the words in advance. This course do not help people memorise words.

Phonetics

English phonemes will be explained in alphabetic pronunciation based on Spear's research instead of memorising the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA). The topics include vowels, diphthongs and consonants in respect of the manner and the place of articulations. The application of phonetic symbols in dictionaries. After this stage, participants are expected to be able to pronounce every word shown in a dictionary.
